On a simplicity pattern, what doesK5 mean next to the sizes?
I just made a size 8 formal dress and my size 6 daughter can't fit into it, it is way small. I noticed K5 next to the sizes but no one can tell me what that means. It has been my experience in the past that patterns usually run a bit bigger
So really, the K5 means nothing except what sizes are grouped together?
Packages of sewing patterns are grouped into sizes, like you'll have sizes 0-8 in one package and 8-14 in another...the packages will both look the same, so they put a label like K5 or U5 to tell you which sizes are included in the package.

I know your daughter is usually a size 6...but this size is completely arbitrary and isn't consistent. My wardrobe has every size from 3/4 to 7/8...
What you should do is take the measurements of your daughter and see how they work with the pattern. Take a measuring tape and measure her. You should also err towards making it larger, then making it smaller if it's too big.
(the dress may not have worked because the fabric didn't have enough stretch...or the size was too small)
