Patchwork making is a way to show innovative and creative ideas of making things look attractive. Sewing patches on any material, giving attractive designs, colors etc. make patchworks. It is a type of needlework or handwork. There are some books, which helps us in making patches and provides various designs to make creative patchworks and these books are known as patchwork books. Patchwork is mainly done on a cloth and can be stitched upon anything to make it more attractive and beautiful.
Patchwork Project are designed for making patterns. These patterns can be made on any material and on any size of fabric, and there is no limitation for using a particular size or particular material for making patchwork patterns. Patchwork projects are those projects that help to increase the ability and creativity of an artist to show his/her talent and make things beautiful.
Some types of patchwork available in Patchwork Books are; baby block, bow tie, bears paw, blazing sun, cactus flower, clay choice, crosses and losses, hexagon, fish blocks, grandmother's fan and many more. Patchwork is an art of showing ideas, innovations using modern and traditional designs and techniques. The first step for making a patchwork is to first plan the design, which one wants to make as a pattern, also decide the fabric upon which it has to be done and then decide the colors required to make the pattern or the block.
Patchwork Making can be done anywhere, at home, cottages, small or large-scale industries. It is not necessary that the patchwork can be done only in big industries. Some geometrical values and shapes make these patchworks, so that we can easily combine other patchwork together at a place in a proper and attractive manner. Patchworks can be done on many things like cloth, dresses, quilts, bed sheets, etc. Some people carry this activity as a profession and some does as a hobby, patchworks are also made by sewing machine. Patchwork is an art to show ones tradition, using traditional ideas, geometrical shapes and modern techniques, it is one of the most creative and innovative technique to make fabrics and dresses look more beautiful.

What was the pattern or style of the last patchwork quilt you made?
Several quilters in my family are working on a heart hug quilt for my aunt. We're paper piecing six inch hearts in various shades of blue with light colored backgrounds. We'll alternate them with six inch squares of light fabrics.
The last one we finished was a queen size variation of a log cabin block. It had half square triangle in the corners, and by turning the blocks we got a secondary pattern with stars and paths. It's from the McCall's Quilting December 2006 issue (see the photo below).
Other than that, I have half a dozen quilts in various stages of completion. I have two hourglass baby quilts that are pieced but still need to be quilted. I'm in the middle of two more baby quilts with a central thistle block (the mother is Scottish). I've been sidetracked by a fun and fast bag pattern, and by thinning my fabric stash.
