How to Begin Quilting Like a Pro
Quilting can be a fun hobby for most people to enjoy. Many people ask me, "How hard is it to start quilting?" Just remember, similiar to other things in life, once you learn the basics on how to quilt, you will be very quick to advance. What do I mean by advance? After you have quilted for hours, you will feel confident with yoru abilities to create an advanced piece with terrific designs. You may even be praised for your quilts during a general conversation about the quilts your neighbors and friends see!
If you are considering to learn how to quilt, it may be a good idea, since you will always be able to make presents from your heart, a custom made present is typically more meaningful than a store bought present. Maybe you are thinking, "I wouldn't even know where to start, even if I did want to learn how to start quilting." Lucky for all of us, we are in the internet era, we have a virtually limitless resource, so do a search on Google for an article on, "One Fun Hobby - Quilting".
Quilting has been around for a very long time and isn't going anywhere, anytime soon. The satisfaction you will get from desigining your own quilt will not be matched by another hobby. I have been quilting for years now, and I always am thinking of new ideas to make my next quilt even better. If you are looking for a step-by-step guide, an informational resource, and a great place to learn about quilting, then take it from me, I only work with the best!

Quilt covers the quilts refuse to stay put in , feels like they are made from more starch then cotton , how?
how can i remove the horrible sheen so my sons quilt doesnt work its way out of the cover every night
Sounds like you purchased a duvet (quilt cover) made out of polished cotton or a knit with a satin finish. Polished cotton will look and feel like a heavily starched cotton because of the finish and the sizing (starch like solution that gives the fabric drape and body). If it's a polished cotton, consider having it professionally laundered (not dry cleaned) and ask for no starch. This will remove the sizing and the duvet should be softer but that's no guarantee the quilt will stay put in the duvet.
Or you can wash it yourself in cold water and dry it on low, but it will be a chore to press. I can't think of a way to remove the sheen from a knit without damaging the fabric.
Alternate Suggestions:
Sew velcro strip (hook and loop) into the bottom of the duvet and the bottom of the quilt. If the quilt is an heirloom I don't suggest this.
Or...I've seen duvets that have a button loop sewn on the inside at each corner, and a button sewn on the outside corners of the quilt or vice versa.
Or...sew a strip of cotton or satin ribbon (or cut a 16 inch shoe lace in half and sew the cut ends) about 8 inches long to the inside corners of the duvet, and the outside corners of the quilt. Tie the corners together in a bow and the quilt should stay securely inside the duvet.
