Organic Cotton Fabric - A Way To Pamper Your Sensitive Skin
Did you ever feel uncomfortable with your clothing? Perhaps, you are out at the mall with friends and you suddenly felt itchy all over due to the clothing that you are wearing. If you have experienced all of these, then you might want to know that there is a certain type of fabric that is regarded as perfect for those with sensitive skin, and that is organic cotton fabric.
If you have been thinking deeply about the quality that makes organic cotton fabric better than other types of fabric, the answer does not only lie to what you can see, but you have to think about the process used in making these excellent quality fabrics.
There are various cotton plantations in the world, some are found in Australia, that practice what is known as organic farming. Instead of using synthetic fertilizers in growing cotton, they use compost and animal manure. Instead of using harmful chemical-based pesticides, they use ladybugs and other organic pesticides derived from plants to ward off pests.
You can now infer that the cotton produced by these farms are of the highest quality considering that they were not bombarded with harmful chemicals.
When it is harvest time, the cotton would then be processed into organic cotton fabrics, which are truly great to the touch.
You can always expect garments made from organic cotton to be gentle to your sensitive skin. You will surely feel the comfort it brings. Your skin would be very much delighted at the way that the apparel provides it with comfort.
Often, t shirts that have labels of "100% cotton" are not organic. So try to make sure that if you go out and search for a good shirt, you choose those with labels of "100% organic cotton." That way you can be sure that you are getting the real thing.
So the safest garment for your sensitive skin will always be those made from organic cotton fabric. Your skin will surely be thankful!

Would it work well to sew cotton fabric to fleece?
I want to make a shopping cart cover and need to know if sewing cotton to fleece (with a batting inbetween) would hold up well. I've made one using just fleece and it turned out great but I'd like to make a reversible cart cover and have fleece on one side for cold weather and cotton on the other for warmer weather. Would it be easy to sew the two fabrics together - would it hold up to washings? Thanks! I appreciate the help. Hope I placed this in the correct catagory.
It would hold up, just leave out the batting..and use a good short stitch length. I just made a bunch(27) of fleece winter scarves, with flannel on the other side.
Make sure you wash the cotton first before you add it to the fleece to make up for shrinkage. use a 1/4 inch seam allowance. you should have no problems...
Fleece should be think enough to make up for the batting.
